Print Lab: Create a Pochoir Journal
Learn pochoir stencil printing with Book Arts instructor Bettina Pauly. Create your own decorated journal using traditional French printmaking techniques.
What you’ll do
Roll up your sleeves and join us for our first PRINT LAB of 2026.
In celebration of the Gallery 212 exhibition Craft in the Valley, we’ll be focusing on a fun hands-on printmaking technique used in Book Arts, known as pochoir. Known as the French term for stencil, pochoir was an early form of stencil printing where artists would apply color pigments to paper by hand as an elegant and affordable way to reproduce artwork in color.
Guest Book Arts instructor, Bettina Pauly will join us and share an artist demonstration on how to stencil print using pigments with different applicators. Each attendee will have an opportunity to create their own unique pochoir stencil and decorate a journal to take home. The $15 participation fee includes all the materials needed for this project. The event is casual, and you don’t need experience to participate. We’ll teach you how! Please register for each guest who will be participating to make sure we have enough materials for everyone attending. Light refreshments will be provided.
