Sugar Skulls
About the Class
Sugar skulls, or calaveras de azúcar, are a key symbol of the Mexican Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos) holiday and have many significant meanings. Traditionally, sugar skulls are created as ornamental gifts for children and family members during Día de Muertos. Unlike the ghoulish skulls and skeletons associated with Halloween, these brightly colored skulls represent the departed souls in the circle of life. Join us for this family-friendly art activity and learn about the significance of sugar skulls and make your own.
