Over 70 Bay Area artisans were chosen by a jury for this annual fundraising sale.
Sonoma, California. The Winter Art Market is one of the Sonoma Community Center’s largest annual fundraisers. This year’s event takes place Friday through Sunday, December 5–7, and will open with a special SCC members-only early shopping hour on Friday from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
What makes this holiday art sale stand out is its juried selection process. From hundreds of applicants, a panel of artists carefully curates the group of makers invited to sell their work over the weekend. Everything must be handmade by the artists. The result is a vibrant, high-quality market that draws more than 1,000 shoppers each year.
The Winter Art Market is where creativity, community, and holiday cheer come together in perfect harmony. Local artists fill the halls with handmade wonders, visitors hunt for the perfect gifts, and every purchase gives back as artists donate a share of their sales to support the Center. It’s not just a market, it’s a celebration of art, generosity, and the spirit of the season.
“This is one of the most anticipated sales of the year,” said Kelly Autumn, Printmaking Coordinator for the Center. “It’s a great way to support local artists and the Center. Many of the artists create their pieces on our campus and spend much of the year creating just for this event.”
Held the first weekend of December every year, the sale takes place throughout the building, in almost every room on both floors, and in the hallways. A members-only lounge will be available throughout the sale for relaxing, socializing, and a host of special treats. Food and drinks will be available for purchase to the public.
“It was not easy narrowing down the artists this year,” commented Meg Billingham, organizer of the event. “We’ve reached a cap on how many people we can accept, and there were so many talented candidates.”
The sale traditionally includes ceramics, fiber art, printmaking, painting, jewelry, culinary delights, clothing, sculpture, and more. Since there is no fee to apply, the market strives to be accessible to artists of every kind. Sonoma Community Center is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment where artists of all backgrounds and abilities can thrive.
Sonoma Community Center’s annual Winter Art Market Fundraiser will take place Friday through Sunday, December 5-7. The sale kicks off with the members-only hour on Friday, December 5, from 4:00-5:00 p.m. and then opens to the public from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6, the market is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, December 7, will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
