The new Trashion/Sustainability department was inspired by the Trashion Fashion Sonoma Events, which highlight the innovative use of recycled and unconventional materials. Our signature events, such as the Trashion Fashion Runway Show, Trashion Barbies (Kens and Friends) Gallery Exhibit, showcase the potential of creative waste management through art and fashion. Our goal is to make sustainability engaging, exciting, and essential.
We aim to provide a variety of community events, such as clothing swaps, repair fairs and more. The Sonoma Community Center Trashion/Sustainability Department offers collaborative workshops and classes across our many creative departments. In addition, we share resources and partnerships of outside organizations that encourage sustainability and zero-waste practices. Throughout the year, we provide an update of needed items and materials for Trashion and the Community Center and where to donate them. Join us in the fun of creating a sustainable future together!

The Sonoma Community Center invites the public to participate in the annual Trashion Barbie Exhibit where Barbie, Ken, and other plastic dolls are saved from the landfills by transforming them into new works of art. Individuals, organizations and all ages and skill sets are welcome to submit. We are ALWAYS looking for any 12” and under dolls gently used and especially of diverse color, gender and shape to replenish our supply. We offer them as a choice to create on when it’s Trashion Dolls season!
Please consider donating them to us – we will take them anytime of the year! Huge thanks to Sonoma Recology Marin who saves the dolls that go down the wrong line of recycling and donates them to us for this auction!
