About the class

Join us for a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn to make your own holiday gift boxes, inspired by traditional Japanese folding techniques. Megumi will guide you through mastering each fold and crease, turning simple sheets of paper into boxes that can be gifts in themselves. We’ll focus on creating smaller boxes, perfect for homemade baked goods or items like jewelry (approximately 4” x 5.5” and 3” x 3“) but you’ll also learn how to scale up the boxes using larger paper for even more versatility.

You’ll also learn embellishment techniques of repurposing and upcycling everyday materials to add a personal touch and additional layer of meaning to your gift boxes. Megumi will integrate excerpts from her book “The Soul of Gift Wrapping” explaining not only techniques but the various meanings and historic context of the art of wrapping and folding paper.

Megumi’s new book “The Soul of Gift Wrapping: Creative Techniques for Expressing Gratitude, Inspired by the Japanese Art of Giving” will be available to purchase at the workshop.
