About the class

This class is focused on learning and practicing foundational drawing skills while studying the beautiful oak trees at Jack London State Park. We will cover sight measurement, proportions, composition, line weight and more. Each student will choose a tree to study closely and render carefully, using these fundamental methods. In the last hour of class we will shift our attention to observing the light and shadows on our subjects, with a value exercise done in bright watercolor washes.

After the workshop you may choose to go hiking, tour the museum, or walk to the ruins of the Wolf House.

Important note: There is a Vehicle Entry Fee of $10. After the kiosk, veer to the right and proceed to the parking lot. All students will meet the instructor in the parking lot and walk together to the workshop area.

Please share any special considerations (medical, physical, learning) that will help your instructor make your class accessible and accommodating for you. You can share these considerations when register or by emailing Sean at sean@sonomacommunitycenter.org.
