Dyeing with Kitchen Scraps
About the Class
Discover how to transform everyday kitchen scraps—like onion skins, avocado pits, beet peels, and used coffee grounds—into eco-friendly dyes in this hands-on workshop. You’ll learn a simple natural dyeing process, boiling food scraps to create colorful dye baths, then soaking fabric to produce a variety of hues. Along the way, we’ll explore sustainable ways to repurpose food waste into beautiful, one-of-a-kind textiles. Participants will leave with unique hand-dyed fabric samples, practical skills, and fresh inspiration to keep experimenting at home.
Fabric for samples will be supplied; you’re also welcome to bring one new or used t-shirt (100% cotton) to dye as well.
