Halloween Painted Cookies Class

Learn to bake and hand-paint buttery sugar cookies using edible paint in this sweet Halloween workshop. Take home 12 cookies, recipes, and dough!

My grandma is a baker and an artist. Growing up, I spent all my time either in the kitchen with her making cookies and decorating cakes, or at the table watching her transform a blank canvas into a beautiful painting. Her specialty was what she called her “Painted Cookies”; a combination of her two favorite art forms. She’s been making them for generations, and now I’m thrilled to share her recipe and the joy behind it with you.

Take home: A dozen hand painted cookies by you in class, recipes with step-by-step instructions to recreate at home, and a batch of cookie dough for you to share the experience you’ve learned with family and friends at home!

Making the Dough:
We will mix a batch of her perfectly tender, not too sweet, buttery sugar cookies. I’ll share all of her time-tested tips and tricks, plus my own, adding a touch of whole grains.

Paint & Create:
Then, we will get into the real fun part of hand painting each cookie. We’ll gather around the table with brushes and edible paints. Whether you follow one of my seasonal prompts or bring your own design to life, I’ll be there to guide you step-by-step.

Taste & Take Home:
Food and drinks will be provided. While this is styled as a Halloween Painted Cookies class, you’re free to paint whatever inspires you! You’ll leave with a dozen hand-painted cookies, the full recipe, and hopefully, a new tradition to share with your own loved ones.

Leila Clement

I am a professional pastry cook and baker who believes the best way to connect is through something made by hand. My own culinary journey began as a self-taught learner, which gives me a unique perspective on how to break down complex skills effectively. Having worked in fine-dining pastry departments and award-winning bakeries, I now focus on bridging the gap between professional technique and the home kitchen.

Because I started exactly where you are, I find so much joy in helping students break through technical barriers and grow their confidence. I am a firm believer in staying in a ‘student mindset’. I view class as a collaborative space where we can all learn from one another. I can’t wait to see what we create together!

Through teaching, I now focus on bridging the gap between professional technique and the home kitchen.
