Waitlist – Introduction to Image Transfers
Learn photo transfer techniques onto canvas, wood, glass & paper in this hands-on workshop with Bay Area artist Margot Hartford. Create unique art pieces!
About the Class
Join Bay Area guest artist Margot Hartford, in this fun and creative one-day workshop where students will explore a unique photo transfer technique using personalized images. Learn how to effortlessly transfer photos onto various surfaces, including paper, canvas, glass and wood. Margot will demonstrate this process using a printable clear acetate, a specialized medium, and acrylic paint. Students will be introduced to the technique and will have the hands-on opportunity to create. The instructor will offer guided instruction in a supportive learning environment with a limited class size.
Workshop Requirements
After registration, in advance of the workshop, students will be required to email eight images to the instructor so they will be ready for use during the session. Each student will receive paper and wood panels to use as surfaces for transferring their images. The class materials fee will include all the tools needed to create the project. Students will be able to take home all of their images and finished projects at the end of the workshop.
Additional Notice
This class requires hand dexterity to maneuver tools, including X-Acto blades, and paintbrushes. The workshop includes six hours of instruction with a short 30 minute lunch break.
About your Instructor
Margot Hartford
For over three decades, Margot worked as a freelance lifestyle photographer in the Bay Area, specializing in images of people within their environments for clients such as health clubs, hotels, and universities. As the commercial world shifted toward hours of digital retouching, Margot chose to refocus her creative energy on fine art. Her current work spans self-directed photographic projects and mixed-media collage using image transfers, paint, and paper. Across all mediums, her fine art practice remains grounded in her own high-resolution photographic images. Margot also teaches image transfer and encaustics workshops in Mill Valley, San Anselmo and Sausalito, California.

Class FAQ
We ask that you notify us at least 10 days in advance of a class if you need to cancel your registration. You may cancel by phone or email and we will gladly offer you a refund or credit toward a future class. If you cancel with less than 10 days’ notice, we will not be able to provide refunds, due to our contractual obligations and material purchases for each class.
Sometimes, the Sonoma Community Center has to cancel a class due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances, such as a natural disaster or health emergency. If this happens and we do not offer a reschedule date, you will be refunded 100% of your registration fee (minus the payment processing and services fee), or credit towards a future class. If we are able to offer a reschedule date but you are unable to make the new date, we will gladly offer credit towards a future class.
All credits must be used within 1 year.

Late additions to any program, class, or workshop that has already begun will be allowed on a per-case basis depending upon the Program Director & instructors approval. Late additions will have to pay the full registration cost of the class, along with any materials fees, and will not be prorated for the time missed.
