Camp Information

Are your kids ready to get their hands dirty and create art in the open air of the Sonoma Community Center’s outdoor studio spaces this summer? All camps are run by real artists! Campers will experience our state-of-the-art studios and equipment for sewing, clay, printmaking and more!  We are committed to providing a safe and welcoming camp environment where youth of all backgrounds and abilities can become confident learners who take risks and artistically engage in their world. Our staff will work with parents to ensure a successful experience.

All camps will offer an artistic community of inclusion for all identities of gender, sexuality, race, and ethnicity.

Pay-What-You-Can: At check out you will be given three price options. This sliding scale model is designed to meet parents where they are. When you pay the top tier you will be helping provide education for other students.

Before Camp Care | 9:00am- 10:00am, Monday – Friday | $50 per week | Per Camper

All Outdoors:  In order to provide a safe covid-19 environment for students and staff, Sonoma Community Center summer camps will be held outside. We are working hard to create a comfortable environment with ample shade. With that in mind, please provide your children with refillable water-bottles, hats and sunscreen. We will have ice water available for students to refill their bottles.

Self Expression Camp!  2 weeks, June 7-18 / 10 am- 3:00 pm  / Teens Ages 13-17

We are partnering with Positive Images to provide a safe and inclusive space for teens to find their artistic voice through radical self expression. In this two week camp students will explore themes that matter to them through a variety of unconventional art forms led by Bay-area artists.  Students will also learn how art can be used as an outlet to communicate issues important to them. 

This camp will offer an artistic community of inclusion for all identities of gender, sexuality, race, and ethnicity.

(Positive Images is a grassroots organization whose mission is to provide support, advocacy and education to Sonoma County’s LGBTQIA+ community. We nurture positive self image through creating an affirming environment where everyone can explore their identities, develop leadership skills and participate in building a just and equitable society)

We have applied for funding to provide scholarships and reduced rates for enrollment.

Clay and Art Camp  3 sessions: June 21-25, June 28- July 2 or  July 5-9 / 10 am- 3:00 pm                     Ages 6-10

A one-week summer camp designed to give students the opportunity to work in clay, print, and mixed media. Students will explore and learn to communicate and express themselves through art and movement.  The first half of the week will have a hands-on focus in clay. The remaining projects will focus on printmaking and fiber. Each one week camp is run three times and can be repeated. Must register for each session separately.

Fiber Camp / 2 sessions: July 12-16 or July 19-23 / 10 am- 3:00 pm  / Ages 10-17

WEEK 1: All things textiles! The first week will be a variety of fun fiber crafts and skill building. Projects will include pom-pom making, tassels, fabric printing/dyeing, macrame, bracelet braids, and weaving.

WEEK 2: Dive into creative machine and hand sewing. Campers will create fun projects like pillows and and an easy and fashionable top as well as learn various hand sewing techniques like sashiko and straight stitch. They will also learn how to use the sewing machine to create their own clothing items.   Open to everyone – all skill levels welcome.

Upcycle Design Camp / July 26-30 / 10 am- 3:00 pm  / Ages 10-17

A one-week camp for youth to discover the world of upcycled designs and sustainability practices in art making. They will use their imagination and innovation to create textiles and art out of unlikely materials like bicycle tubes,  magazines, plastic bags and old t-shirts. They will walk away feeling empowered and ready to create from found materials all around them!
