“Etched in Sonoma” in Gallery 212

Opening Reception: Friday, May 1, 5-7 PM, FREE!

Opening reception will include a talk by the curators, light refreshments, and entertainment from musical duo Tim Curley and Gary Halter.

Etched in Sonoma features works reflecting both the history and ongoing vitality of etching in Sonoma. They bring together prints created by artists connected to Eastside Editions alongside those produced more recently by artists connected to the Community Center’s Print Studio. The exhibit is open daily through May 24.

On Thursday, May 21, join us for a free discussion, “Collecting Prints: the Inside Story.” Co-curator of Etched in Sonoma, Simon Blattner, will host a lively conversation with David Keaton, owner of Modern Art West, and Sonoma acclaimed artist Chester Arnold. RSVP here for the talk.

“Print Day in May” Printmaking Symposium

Saturday, May 2, 10 AM-6:30 PM, $50

This Print Day in May celebration is a unique opportunity to connect and be part of a lively, artist-led event rooted in the spirit of honoring printmaking. The festivities will include some hands-on activities, artist talks, Q&A, and end with a mix & mingle happy hour party with homemade pizza in our Secret Garden. Presenters include Mark Brodie, Eileen Parent, Barbara Schwartzberg, and Michelle Wilson.

The day began with the award ceremony for the 16th Annual Trashion Fashion Runway Show (see all winners below). Also awarded were the winners of the City of Sonoma/Sonoma Community Center Earth Day Photo Contest. The theme was “The Power of Water,” and the adult winner was Jean-Francois Ducarroz (pictured- photographed by William Murray), and Leo Dale won in the teen group.
