The Sonoma Community Center will host its annual Día de Muertos Altar Lighting on Saturday, November 1. As part of the tradition, two public altars will be created, inviting community members to contribute photographs in a collective tribute to loved ones who have passed. The centerpiece of the event is the striking 12-foot public altar, created by local sculptor Jim Callahan, featured in the front garden. This year, the Center will also feature a display of handmade butterflies that signify the hopes and dreams of our community.

Wes Craven’s SCREAM (1996) returns to the screen in Andrews Hall at the Sonoma Community Center on Thursday, October 30, at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the film are $20 and should be purchased in advance as they are expected to sell out ahead of the event.

The Sonoma Community Center will present PULSO/PULSE, a solo exhibition by interdisciplinary artist Adrian Arias, on view from October 2 through November 29, 2025, in Gallery 212 and the Causeway Gallery. The show will be celebrated with an artist reception and talk on Saturday, October 11, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. It is free and open to the community.

This Halloween Eve, Thursday, October 30th, the Sonoma Community Center will show SCREAM (1996) in Andrews Hall. General admission is $20, and the film is rated R. This marks the second annual screening of the film, which featured the Center as the setting for Woodsboro High School. A new partnership with Spring Hill Estate has made it possible to offer a limited number of fan experience upgrades.

Musician and composer, John Partridge, will perform an eerie soundtrack to the 1922 silent film, Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, on Sunday, October 5th, at 2:00 p.m. in Andrews Hall at the Sonoma Community Center. Classic film enthusiast and author Jennifer Churchill will introduce the film. This German silent horror film is an adaptation of Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel “Dracula.” All seats are just $10.

On Wednesday, October 15, at 6:45 p.m., come to the Center for a Sonoma Plaza history tour unlike any you’ve experienced. It’s on stage in Andrews Hall. Historical storyteller Jim Silverman will share stories set to art, animation, photos, and video, as we visit a familiar place in a new light.

This fall, the Sonoma Community Center is proud to partner with Zero Waste Sonoma to launch Zero Waste Week 2025 at the Center, a community-wide celebration featuring free and donation-based events, workshops, and activities that focus on building a more sustainable future. Other supporting events include a 6-week upcycling fashion class and a clothing swap.
