The Relief Residency Program was born in response to the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene on so many in the craft community in Western North Carolina. The Center saw an opportunity to re-imagine resources we already had to support artists across the country. We transformed our traditional six-month residency to a series of shorter, funded residencies designed to generate income and support artists who have lost their studio or livelihood due to natural or man-made disasters.

This weekend, shop our annual juried art sale and fundraiser for the Sonoma Community Center! The Winter Art Market is three festive days of shopping from over 70 Bay Area artisans, all creating handcrafted items. There is something for everyone. Food, music, and fun await you. Please remember to leave your furry friends at home to protect the artists and their artwork.

The Winter Art Market is happening on December 5-7 throughout the Sonoma Community Center campus. Shop from over 70 Bay Area artists in this unique annual fundraiser for the Center. Handmade one-of-a-kind art to deck your halls, give as gifts, wear to the office party, or spoil yourself!

The Sonoma Community Center will present an intimate concert experience featuring touring singer/songwriter Natalie Gelman. Local Dan Martin of the Noma Rocksteady Band will open the show.

Tours are sold out otherwise. Join us for the 3 PM showing of Scream in Andrews Hall. Tickets are available online or at the door. There will be no door sales at the 6:30 PM show as it is completely sold out.

This year, we partnered with Zero Wast Sonoma to bring Sonoma free classes focused on reducing, reusing, recycling, repurposing, and composting. Participants learned how to dye fabric with kitchen scraps. Sam Paone taught how to make a brined, scrap-based kraut safely and successfully. Discarded t-shirts were transformed into beautifully braided rugs. The week wrapped up with October’s PRINT LAB which used fabric scraps, stained clothing, and other discarded things to create printed patches.

The last of our Zero Waste Week programs will be our monthly PRINT LAB with Kelly Autumn. We’ll be printing on old clothes to create handmade patches. Various printmaking techniques will be taught.
